Dear Moderator
This blog belongs to Shauna Luckett throughout this project I worked with Beth Thornton and Alex Torrens. We were asked to create a two minute opening sequence to a horror film including titles. I have ordered my blog you will find the final product at the top followed by prelim task, Evaluation, planning documents and research tasks. We took approx three months to create our film and I hope you enjoy the film and my blog.

FINAL CUT THREE
The video above is the final cut of our horror opening sequence named Three. After recognising the faults made in the final edit we made the amendments and added in the title and a this is the final video which has been uploaded to YouTube and I embedded it onto my blog. The final cut was made on Final Cut HD. This was instead of using iMovie which we had been currently using in the rough cuts. we were able to add sound and text from both garage band and live type or through the final cut programme its self. Editing the finals cut took in all about two weeks to complete. The feedback that we got for the final edit was much better than the comments that had been made about the previous rough cut, the feedback included;
- The storyline was now more clear to understand as the narration helped to tell the story, yet not giving too much away.
- The lighting on the footage was a lot better and more clear than the previous footage that we had shot.
- The sound we added helped to create more of an atmosphere
- Titles that were added looked good and correct.

Evaluation of media opening sequence
Rough cut to opening sequence
This is a rough cut of all of the footage put together that had been filmed. We edited the footage using final cut, we expected the final edit to be very different from the rough cut due to the fact that this rough cut is simply all of the footage put together in order without the use of any editing techniques etc.
Research was gathered from the class as they gave us feedback for the rough cut the general comments that were made are as follows:
- The footage was very dark and it was hard to tell what was going on in the scenes
- The storyline was not clear the peers in the class were unsure as to what was going on, it was suggested that narration could have been used.
- No sound had been added to the footage again making the storyline less clearer, sound could have been added to add more tension and atmosphere.
- Some of the shots were a bit shaky as some shots had been done by using a hand held camera, without the use of the tripod.
Draft Evaluation Questions
These were the initial answers that I had wrote up for the answers to questions 4 and 5 of the evaluation. we had assigned our selves questions to complete individually. The questions were then finalised and amended slightly before putting them on our final Wix evaluation,
Evaluation Questions
• In what ways does your media product use, develop of challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
• How does your media product represent particular social groups?
• What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
• Who would be the audience for your media product?
• How did you attract/address your audience?
• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
• Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
These were the questions we were given to evaluated our finished media product, we had to evaluate in detail our final edit for the opening sequence of our horror clip three.

Soundclip for opening sequence
Soundclip by user375308
This sound effect was made using Garage band this will be present during a scene within our opening.
This was an initial sound clip that I had made on garageband, I tried to make it original but still have that eerie/creepy theme to it in order to add suspense to the opening sequence. I had incorporated a lot of ambiant and suspense sound to make it as creepy as possible

History of horror films
History of horror films
The first depictions of supernatural events appear in several of the silent shorts created by the film pioneer Georges Méliès in the late 1890s, the best known being Le Manoir du diable (aka, The Haunted Castle, 1896) which is sometimes credited as being the first horror film. Another of his horror projects was 1898's La Caverne maudite (aka, The Cave of the Unholy One, literally "the accursed cave") Japan made early forays into the horror genre with Bake Jizo and Shinin no Sosei, both made in 1898 In 1910, Edison Studios produced the first film version of Frankenstein, which was thought lost for many years.
In the early 20th century, the first monster appeared in a horror film, Quasimodo, the hunchback of Notre-Dame who had appeared in Victor Hugo's novel, Notre-Dame de Paris (1831). Films featuring Quasimodo included Alice Guy's Esmeralda (1906), The Hunchback (1909), The Love of a Hunchback (1910) and Notre-Dame de Paris (1911).
German Expressionist film makers, during the Weimar Republic era and slightly earlier, would significantly influence later films, not only those in the horror genre. Paul Wegener's The Golem (1920) and Robert Wiene's The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (also 1920) had a particular impact. The first vampire-themed movie was made during this time: F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu (1922), an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Hollywood dramas used horror themes, including versions of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) and The Monster (1925) both starring Lon Chaney, the first American horror movie star. Other films of the 1920s include Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1920), The Phantom Carriage (Sweden, 1920), The Lost World (1925), The Phantom Of The Opera (1925), Waxworks (Germany 1924), and Tod Browning's (lost) London After Midnight (1927) with Chaney.
